It is good news for Radiohead lovers. They can now buy Radiohead songs from Itunes. Radiohead is an alternative rock group, extremely popular and their songs are a big demand on iTunes. However until now Radiohead were not too keen on releasing their songs individually on iTunes but were ok with the album format. However since Itunes was against this, Radiohead decided against selling their songs to Itunes. But recently, from their album “Once in Rainbows” they have given a green signal for releasing their songs individually. So, now all the videos, songs including their new album “Greatest hits” are available in iTunes store.

For all you students out there, here’s a deal which Apple have.

Now, it would be even better if they were giving Macs with a purchase of an Ipod Touch. But I can’t see that happening anytime soon.

… Even if they still make bazzillions of dollars every month!

There seems to be no end to the list of ipod accessories. Ipod boxers, ipod hoodies and now, ipod armbands. PDO has launched Sporteer, its new Ipod/iPhone arm bands. Arm bands are used when exercising or playing. Thus comfort and grip would be on everyone’s mind. As you probably know, the Coverflow feature is a really cool way to search for your music. And if you have friends who don’t have an ipod, you know how jelous they get when you browse your music with Coverflow.

Anyway, if you don’y have covers for some of your music, then I want to share this program.

Everybody today is talking about global warming, a cleaner and greener earth! So would Apple be not listening? Of course they are!  MacRumors recently discovered a patent application that suggests that Apple might be considering the use of solar power for their mobile devices. This means that the battery life can be enormously increased without any further aid than the sun. One significant challenge in implementing this technology has been the size limitation, i.e. snuggling these solar panels in the already size optimised mobile devices. However, this new technique of Apple circumvents this limitation too. Their ides is quite ingenious. It involves using the LCD screen as the catchment area for sunlight and having solar panels behind them. This also means preserving the outward design of the devices. We hope this technology becomes feasible soon!

Well, we have talked about ipod boxers to keep ipod close to your body. How about being in an ipod accessible world 30,000 feet above the earth. Well I’m not joking, Singapore airlines has introduced ipod/iphone docks and 15.4 inch LCDs in their Business Class Airbus A340-500 flights. This service for flights between Singapore and New York begins in May 15 th and in August for the flights between Singapore and Los Angeles. What this means is that passengers not only get the comfort of the Singapore Airlines flight, but also get to watch their favourite movies or listen to their favourite songs even when they are travelling. The headphones are enabled with noise cancellation, so that when listening to the ipod/iphone, information from the captain to the passengers would be also heard by the passengers. (by interrupting the original ipod audio)

Of late iTunes has been very frequently in our news updates. Now for one more update. Itunes now has added HBO programming. That is good news.  The Sex and the City, Sopranos, Deadwood, Flight of the Conchords,The Wire and Rome can now be purchased and downloaded from iTunes store. The series can be downloaded either as episodes or as a complete series. These serials can be watched on Mac, iPod (nano with video, classic,touch) , iPhone and Apple TV. The price is as follows:

Flight of the Conchords ,Sex and the City,The Wire,: $1.99 per episode,

The Sopranos,Deadwood and Rome:  $2.99 per episode.

Henry McGee, president of HBO Video said  “We’re very excited to make these legendary HBO programs available on the iTunes Store.Whether catching up on ‘Sex and the City’ in anticipation of its upcoming movie release or reliving a favorite ‘Sopranos’ episode, we think viewers will love being able to watch these shows on their iPod or iPhone.”

Of course we are all excited!

Just another piece of news, (in case anybody did not know) the movie “ Sex and City” hits the theaters in May 30. We are all eagerly awaiting!

A couple of recent updates on the much talked about NBC, Apple, and Microsoft Zune.

We all know about NBC pulling out of iTunes. However recently they seem to have given in a bit. They have made available to iTunes and iPhone users, the full episodes of their popular shows 30 Rock and The Office completely free. That’s very good news!

Now to the next update,  the number of the music players of Microsoft sold since their launch in November 2006 is 2 million. This numbers point out to two facts, one,that Apple with iTunes is the numero uno and way up in the list (Apple has sold close over 10 million ipods in the last quarter) and two the growth of microsoft Zune hasd also been pretty flat. Bad news for Microsoft and good news for Apple!
